    Prepare for anything and everything. Having the right clothing, equipment and snacks on hand can help you traverse different types of terrain, overcome unpredictable weather and give you energy throughout your hike. Our kit list also covers some handy essentials you might not have thought about, like suncream, sanitiser and a plaster or two — just in case.

  • The Virtual National Forest Trek is a free of charge walking challenge that enables you to walk the 75 miles, or 120km of the National Forest Way at a time and place that suits you. Just start walking from your door and view your progress on the interactive map, receiving content and updates along the way. It’s a great way to get active and improve your well being by spending time outside.

  • Get outdoors, have fun and explore. It’s completely flexible and up to you, Walk as little, or as often as you like and cover a distance which you’re comfortable with. The eventual aim is cover the full 75 miles, or 120km of the National Forest Way, virtually.

  • Yes you definitely can. You can walk with friends, family or anyone else you fancy. When you register do so as a group of team so that you can track each other’s progress.

  • No, we just want you to enjoy being active and get outdoors.

    There’s no entry, or other hidden costs and you don’t have to fundraise. Just get out and get walking.

    If you do decide you want to fundraise, then it would be great if you decided to support The National Forest, and our work to create and manage woodland, but this is entirely optional and completely up to you.

  • We are currently reviewing the viability of a live event and whether we can reintroduce it as part of our fundraising programme of events. We’ll keep you posted.
